Computing and Distributed Systems (CaDS) manages the University's central server infrastructure and High Performance Computing facilities and provides a range of client support services to administrative and academic units across the University.

Key responsibilities

• Managing the University's central server infrastructure and High Performance Computing facilities.
• Hosting corporate and research applications.
• Providing higher-level desktop computer support for a range of organisational units, including administration and numerous academic areas.
• Leveraging new ICT technologies and implementing computing best practice as they evolve.

• Consolidation of servers using VMWare and Storage Area Networks.
• Relocation of Hobart data centre.
• Development of Change Management Database.
• Migration of NT Domain infrastructure to Active Directory.
• Oracle multi-tier architecture upgrade.
