Communications at UTAS
The University of Tasmania's data and voice networks provide access to the University intranet, the Internet, email, and other network resources from all areas of the University. Connection of computers to the University network infrastructure is frequently a collaborative effort between Communications Technologies staff and departmental computing support officers.
Available Services
The following communications services are widely available across the University.
Usage Etiquette
The use of the University's data networks is regulated by the Information Technology Facilities Usage Guidelines. If you encounter any use which is in breach of these guidelines please report it to the head of the relevant school, department or division, the Service Desk, or to IT Resources.
Off-Campus Network Access
Staff and students can access internal University resources (including Library databases and catalogues) from home through their Internet Service Provider (ISP) via the use of VPN technology. Secure off-campus access to staff and student email accounts is provided via webmail. |
