TREN-Connect - Tasmanian Research and Education Network Connection Project
The TREN-Connect project has been in progress since 2003 and is a key component of the University's telecommunications strategy for the next 10 to 15 years.
Project goals
The ultimate goals of the project are to:
provide very high bandwidth fibre services to locations within Tasmania
facilitate future connection to the Australian Research and Education Network
Major Tasks
Establish interim bandwidth of 310 megabits per second to the AARNet node in Hobart.
Establish connection to the AARNet3 research network.
Establish fibre connections to CBD connection points in Hobart, Launceston and Burnie.
